The winners of the 2022 Gopo Awards
The 16th edition of the Gopo Awards took place on May 3, at the National Theater Bucharest. The event was broadcast live on VOYO and TIFF Unlimited, as well as on the Gopo Awards website.
The Gopo Award for Best Film went to Babardeală cu bucluc sau porno balamuc (dir. Radu Jude, producer: Ada Solomon | Romania; microFILM)
The other films competing for the big trophy were Poppy Field (dir. Eugen Jebeleanu), Malmkrog (dir. Cristi Puiu), Unidentified (dir. Bogdan George Apetri) and Otto the Barbarian (dir. Ruxandra Ghițescu).
The Best Director Award went to Cristi Puiu (Malmkrog).
Two of Romania’s great actors, Victor Rebengiuc and Mariana Mihuț, were honored this year with the Gopo Lifetime Achievement Award.
Camera assistants Pompiliu Avram, Mihai Mihailescu and Constantin Nica received the Special Award, in recognition of their exceptional careers in cinema and major contribution to Romanian film.
