The 26th CineMAiubit Film Festival

CineMAiubit International Student Film Festival, organized by the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” in Bucharest (UNATC) and the Cinemaiubit Foundation, will take place this year between December 6-10.

Now at its 26th edition, CineMAiubit brings to the public important films made by film students from Romania and around the world. The festival program includes talks, Q&A sessions, masterclasses and workshops, seeking to support and promote young talents.

Among the well-known filmmakers who made their debut over the 25 editions of CineMAiubit are Cristian Mungiu, Corneliu Porumboiu, Cătălin Mitulescu, Călin Peter Netzer, Dana Bunescu, Marius Panduru, Cătălin Cristuțiu, Paul Negoescu, Adina Pintilie, Ivana Mladenović, Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, Lucia Chicoș.

This year’s selection is showcased in fiction, documentary and animation/experimental competition sections and features short films produced between 2020-2022, from Romania, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Belgium, Armenia, Korea, Israel, Slovakia, Argentina, Colombia, France, Portugal, Turkey and Italy.

The jury of this edition consists of Oana Iancu (producer) as the jury president, Suzy Gillett (director and producer), Rodica Lazăr (actress), Corina Stavilă (editor), Marius Panduru (director of photography), Dragan Milinković Filmon (director), Călin Boto (film critic).

The festival will also host a photo and poster exhibition, the ScriptLab Workshop (led by Hungarian director Csaba Bollok), the 3D Characters Workshop (held by professor Mirela Vlad), the official launch of the RED V – Raptor XL Camera, organized by camstore.ro, as well as the following events:

  • The Active Archive – A special screening showing heritage films from the UNATC film library, which have been restored and are now presented to the public.
  • CineMAiubit Project Development Lab – An intensive workshop where film students can develop their projects.
  • CINE-RITM – Organized in partnership with the National University of Music Bucharest, the project brings together a director and a composer in order to develop an original score for a Romanian film

Entrance is free to all screenings and events, which will be held at Cinemateca Eforie and the UNATC. The films will also be available on cinepub.ro.
