The White Night of Romanian Films – the 9th edition
On September 21st, The White Night of Romanian Films brings in several locations in Bucharest the best films of this year, but also productions which made history, films awarded in international festivals, and Q&A sessions with some filmmakers, all in one single night.
Among the locations which are part of the event are: Elvire Popescu Cinema, Cinemateca Eforie, Cinemateca Union, Rezidența BRD Scena 9, Grădina cu Filme, Unteatru, J’ai Bistro, and Deschis Gastrobar. The full list of films will be posted soon.
Some of the films that can be seen at The 2018 White Night of Romanian Films are:
- Povestea unui pierde-vară (dir. Paul Negoescu) will have the premiere during The White Night of Romanian Films. The film is a bittersweet comedy about the difficult situations of love, shot on the streets of Bucharest, with Alexandru Papadopol in the main role.
- Dragoste 1. Câine (dir. Florin Șerban) with Cosmina Stratan and Valeriu Andriuță in the leading roles has the premiere in this night. The film tells the story of a lonely ranger whose life is messed up by a woman who he found in the woods.
- I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians (dir. Radu Jude) – the audience has the chance to see Radu Jude’s film before the official premiere. The winner of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, the film presents a historical re-enactment of the WWII battle from Odessa for a street show.
- The Secret of Happiness (dir. Vlad Zamfirescu) – Vlad Zamfirescu’s debut as a director is a cynical film full of unexpected situations which will keep the public breathless.
- Pororoca (dir. Constantin Popescu) – critics’ favorite film at San Sebastian Festival, the film was awarded the Best Leading Actor Prize (for Bogdan Dumitrache).
- Story from Ferentari (dir. Ivana Mladenovic) – a film which received the Special Mention of the Premios Sebastiane Jury.
