The 13th edition of the Gopo Awards was presented for the fourth consecutive year by Alex Bogdan. 79 Romanian film productions have been submitted this year for nominations and the winners were decided by more than 600 voters.

The Best Film Award went to Moromete Family: On the Edge of Time, directed by Stere Gulea, which also received the highest number of trophies, 10.

Constantin Popescu received the Best Director Award for Pororoca.

I thank Oana and Tudor Giurgiu because they persuaded me not to use film – if I give up the film, they will arrange for me to get a Gopo Award. I have to thank my crew who has been supporting me for many years and who doesn’t let me make any mistakes. Meaning that they never put the camera where I say to. Young Hope Award: Iosif Paştina (Moromete Family: On the Edge of Time)

Prior to the event, Iosif Paştina gave an advice to young actors and fellows “Learn your text and be self-confident. Many things start on their own.”

“I’m going to find out who’s guilty for me being here. Thank you to the jury. I’m not going to talk much, but I’ll try to give some advice to the young camera operators. Watching the films that are being made lately, although I know who shot them, I get tired at the end when I have to watch all the credits to see where the camera operator is mentioned- who was in fact the director of photography. I advise young operators to take advantage of the fact that there’s still a Vivi Drăgan, that there are still some operators a little older than them, to regain the place they once had. “It is a moment when you can get emotional. Many years ago, at the age of 18, I was thrilled to enter a huge competition, a marathon of our profession, which I went through for 68 years, day by day, with passion, faith and respect for the public. And as the years passed, the footsteps began to become more and more wavering, and in that moment this little man appeared who gave me a bowl of cold and clear spring water. A deep reverence in front of those who made the little man get to me too, and I must confess that in our world, the actors, the elders have a word that has been tested in time and proven its truth: “We, the actors we live as long as our generation lives. >> And for this I want to wish you many years from now on, healthy, vigorous and with full pockets. “– Constantin Dinulescu
