Where do we submit our films in May?
Filmul de Piatra
For the first time, Filmul de Piatra changes its location, and will be held at Piatra Fântânele (Bistrița-Năsăud County), on Tăşuleasa Social campus. As always, the accommodation for the participants will be covered. The festival takes place between July 25th-28th, 2019, and the deadline for entries is May 15th, 2019. You can submit your film in one of the five categories: fiction, documentary, animation, experimental or video. The film must have a limited duration of maximum 30 minutes, it must be done by Romanian directors or filmmakers from the Republic of Moldova, and it must have had its premiere in 2018 or 2019.

Transilvania Shorts
TRANSILVANIA SHORTS [International Short Film Festival] takes place in Sibiu and Târgu Mureş, and is the festival that brings international short films to Transylvania. The categories of this edition are animation, commercial video, documentary, experimental film, fashion, music video, narrative film, student film and trailer.

Timishorts Film Festival
Timishorts Film Festival will be held between October 16th-20th, 2019, and the deadline for entries is June 1st, 2019. It is important to know that the festival gives priority to avant-garde, experimental or author films. The films must have been made after January 1st, 2018, and national premieres have priority, although films that have already been released are accepted as well. The competition sections are: international, national, videorama (best experimental film) and Timikids (shorts for children between 8 and 14 years old). Competitive sections include animation, fiction, or documentary films. The awards will be: Timishort Trophy, Best Director, Timishort Special Award, Best Romanian Film, Best Experimental Film, Audience Award and, if it’s the case, special mentions as well.

Râșnov Film and History Festival
Between July 19th-28th, Râşnov Film and History Festival will take place, and its theme for this year is “freedom”. Interested in current topics and local and world cinema, FFIR has opened its call for international documentary films. The theme they’re looking for is history, and both debut films and those made by experienced directors are expected. Films must have been made after January 1st, 2017, and entries are open until May 15th, 2019. The awards are Best Documentary, Audience Award and Young Jury Prize. This year’s jury president is French filmmaker Pierre Henri Deleau, manager of Festival International du Film d’Histoire Pessac.

Ploiești International Film Festival
Until October 8th, 2019, you can submit your films at the 8th edition of Ploiești International Film Festival. There is a diverse program and they’re looking for films that fall in the following genres: fantasy, SF, thriller, horror (competition sections), dark comedy, war zones, love stories, “destination unknown”, genre animation (out of competition sections). Films must have a limited duration of maximum 40 minutes.
