Filmul de Piatra, short film festival – About the 12th edition

22 July, 2019
At its 12th edition Filmul de Piatra film festival changes its location, taking place this year at Piatra Fantanele, in the Tasuleasa Social Campus.
The festival will take place between July 25th-28th, 2019, and this year’s edition is called CAMP Edition. Along with the new location, the festival focuses more on the themes addressed by the host of the festival, Tăşuleasa Social, an organization that has carried out several social actions and campaigns since its establishment in 2000 such as planting trees, rehabilitation of a historic road, review of the Management Plan in Calimani Mountains National Park, etc.
The main topic of CAMP-Edition is nature, reflected in the specific themes addressed by the selected films, and in the programs organized by Tăşuleasa Social: Mountain Hiking School: a  course for mountain enthusiasts; The Pedagogical Forest: guided tours in the Tăşuleasa forest; Via Transilvanica: guided hikes. The public is encouraged to camp throughout the festival in the Tăşuleasa Social Campus area, to enjoy a complete, close-to-nature experience.
This year’s edition includes several special events such as concerts: Robin and The Backstabbers, The Mono Jacks, Ada Milea & Vali Racila, Urma, Pinholes, etc., masterclassesworkshopsmeetings with the jury and guestsexhibitions and art installations, and, of course, the campfire.
The members of the jury are Marius Olteanu (director), Judith State (actress), Iulian Tanase (writer), Vlad Eftenie (photographer), Charlie Ottley (documentary). The audience can meet them on Friday, July 26th, at #FestivalTalk: Meet the Jury, and on Saturday, July 27th, at #FestivalTalk: Monsters: Marius Olteanu and Judith State, and at #FestivalTalk: Storytelling with Iulian Tanase, respectively on Sunday, July 28th, at #FestivalTalk: Photography Workshop with Vlad Eftenie.
44 films from Romania and the Republic of Moldova were selected by film critic Flavia Dima and festival director Andrei Dascalescu for Filmul de Piatra #12. The films vary from fiction to documentary, animation and experimental, promising a diversified program. Furthermore, as every year, there is also the video section curated by Bogdan Serban (Radio Guerilla).
In the out-of-competition section, the audience will enjoy films such as Monsters. (dir. Marius Olteanu), Opinci/Sandals (dir. Anton and Damian Groves), the short animation film that received the Best Short Film Award at Transilvania IFF, The Seagull (dir. Maria Popistaşu and Alex Baciu) as well as films by Jonas Mekas or Lucile Hadžihalilovi.
It’s the third edition of Midnight Shorts, short films dedicated to 18+ viewers that will be screened at midnight. But children aren’t neglected either, for they have their own section in the festival, Pietricelele.

Filmul de Piatra film festival will take place this year between July 25th-28th. The entrance is free on Thursday, and the pass includes the camping area as well. For more information on the program and camping, visit Filmul de Piatra or their Facebook Page. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbook.
