TIFF

The well-known Transilvania International Film Festival has now an open call for entries. The festival will take place between May 29-June 7, 2020. The sections to which the films can be submitted are:

Official competition – Representative for the most recent output in world cinema, this section is open to first or second-time feature filmmakers. Only national Romanian premieres are considered.

Romanian Days – Competitive section for Romanian shorts and features produced in 2019 and 2020. National premieres have priority in this section. Minority co-productions with Romania and special retrospective screenings are shown outside competition.

NON-COMPETITIVE SECTIONS:

Supernova – Showcase of the most significant features of the year, including titles awarded in major international festivals, works by renowned auteurs, national box-office leaders, and audience hits.

Full Moon – Showcase for fantasy, thriller, and horror genre features.

No Limit – A section dedicated to features that are provocative, controversial, experimental, transgressive, and innovating in both form and content.

What’s Up, doc? – A section for documentaries over 60 minutes released after May 1st, 2019.

Except for the documentary section, the films must have been released after May 2st, 2019. The deadline for entries is February 1st, 2020. Romanian films have no submission fee.

Karlovy Vary

The Karlovy Vary International Festival, which takes place in the Czech Republic and is one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe, will take place between July 3-11, 2020.

Submitted film must be World, International or European premiere in order to be considered for the program. Production of the submitted film must have been completed within the twelve months prior to the starting date of the festival. All films must be at least 60 minutes long to qualify for submission.

There are two competitive sections, the main competition and the East of the West competition, where first and second feature-length fiction and documentary films produced by countries in Central and Eastern Europe can be submitted.

Glasgow Film Festival

The 16th edition of the Glasgow Film Festival will take place between February 26-March 8, 2020. GFF accepts fiction, documentary, animation and experimental films.

The festival is looking for films that involve diversity and representation of minorities. The films must be produced in 2019, must be at least 50 minutes long and presented at least in premiere in Scotland.

ÉCU

The European Independent Film Festival has opened the entries for the 2020 edition. The list of European categories includes dramatic feature or short film, documentary film, animated film, comedy film, music video, experimental film. There are also worldwide categories such as Much More than a Script and Student Film.

Films must have been completed since September 1st, 2018. To be eligible for the short film competitions, films must be 30 minutes or less. Films can only be accepted if no more than 50% of the funding came from a studio or broadcaster.

The Much More than a Script section is open to screenplays of all genres. Multiple authorship screenplays are acceptable and the submitted screenplay must not have been previously optioned, sold or produced. Short screenplays must be no less than 5 pages and no more than 50 pages in length. Feature screenplays must be no less than 50 pages and no more than 130 pages in length.

Tribeca Film Festival

Entries for the Tribeca International Film Festival are open until December 2nd, 2019.

The festival accepts narrative, documentary, animation or experimental films. Both feature and medium films, as well as short films, should not have been screened publicly in the New York region prior to TFF20 and anywhere else before January 1st, 2019. Short films should be under 40 minutes, and feature or medium films should be 40 minutes or longer.

Other sections of the festival are:

Tribeca TV – Episodic content including projects created for broadcast television and/or streaming, including pilots and episodes of existing series are eligible. Submitted episodes cannot have screened publicly in the New York region prior to January 1st, 2019.

Tribeca Immersive – Works may include but are not limited to virtual reality projects, 360 films, augmented reality projects, web projects, mobile apps, games, multi-media installations and multi-platform works, but in any event, projects must have some sort of interactive element.

Tribeca N.O.W. – Eligible projects include web series; shorts specifically created for the online space; and other episodic content meant for online viewing.

Tribeca X Award – Is open to all work funded with support of a brand in collaboration with artists or filmmakers. Submitted projects must have a storytelling element; projects that are strictly intended as commercial spots will not be considered.
