The 19th edition of the ANONIMUL International Independent Film Festival will take place between August 8-14, 2022, in Sfântu Gheorghe, in the Danube Delta. The festival program includes both indoor and outdoor film screenings, as well as meetings and talks with the guest filmmakers.

More than 400 short films, coming from 50 countries, were submitted for the international short film competition. Ten titles have been selected:

• Techno, Mama (dir. Saulius Baradinskas, Lithuania)
• Ulysses Must Go (dir. Anna Belguermi, France)

The Romanian short film competition features 12 titles, out of over 80 entries:

• The Potemkinists (dir. Radu Jude)
• Stille Post (dir. Brigitta Kanyaro)
• The Story of Wedding Balloon (dir. Radu C. Barbu)

“This year’s Romanian short film competition brings together established filmmakers and emerging talents (some of them are still students!). Couple or family dramas and political reflections on the past, and a bit of comedy here and there. Stories placed both in urban and rural areas, but also in the harsh world of Romanian people working abroad. Outstanding pursuits in the realistic sphere and bold style exercises. A diverse selection, but united by the ambition of each filmmaker to find the right form to express their artistic interests,” says film critic and festival programmer Ionuț Mareș.

The ANONIMUL Festival Trophy, the award for Best Foreign Short Film and Best Romanian Short Film will be granted based on the votes cast by the audience at the festival, while the Anonimul Foundation will award the “Ovidiu Bose Paștină” Prize to an international or Romanian short film.
