The nominations for one of the most important film events in Romania, the Gopo Awards, have been announced on Thursday, May 13. Acasă, My Home (dir. Radu Ciorniciuc), Collective (dir. Alexander Nanau), Ivana the Terrible (dir. Ivana Mladenovic) and Uppercase Print (dir. Radu Jude) are the four films that entered the race for the main award. 16 feature films released in cinemas or on VOD platforms in 2020 were taken into account in the selection process.

Legacy (dir. Dorian Boguţă) and Ivana the Terrible (dir. Ivana Mladenovic) received the most nominations this year.

Collective (dir. Alexander Nanau) has not  been taken into consideration for the Documentary category at the request of the director.

This year’s jury consisted of film critics Iulia Blaga, Irina Trocan, Victor Morozov, Călin Boto and Gabriela Filippi, directors Marius Olteanu, Mona Nicoară and Nora Agapi, actress Emilia Dobrin, editor Eugen Kelemen, and Ioana Dragomirescu, coordinator of Elvire Popesco Cinema.
