The third edition of Película Latin American Experience

10 September, 2018

The third edition of Película – Latin American Experience Festival will take place between 12th and 16th of September 2018 and focuses on Peru.

After two colorful editions of Película, with films that have never been screened in Romania, exotic food and dance, the festival prepares its third edition which will focus on Peru. The organizers want to promote the country’s culture through films, art exhibition, gastronomy, and music; the main guest of the event will be the Embassy of Peru.

On September 12th, at the opening night of the festival, the film El Abuelo, directed by Gustavo Saavedra, will be screened at Elvire Popesco Cinema. Grandpa Crisostomo will soon celebrate his 80th birthday. His son and two grandchildren take him to his home village, Huamachuco, where Crisostomo has not been for 70 years.

Despite the distance, the festival will have some special guests from Peru, as well. Enrica Perez, director, and screenwriter will be one of them, presenting her short film Taxista (scheduled on Thursday, September 13, at 19:30, at POINT). The film will be followed by a Pisco Sour Workshop organized by the Embassy of Peru in Romania. Enrica’s first feature film was screened in the first edition of Película Festival.

Javier Corcuera, the director of the documentary Sigo Siengo, will also join the Latin-American event in Bucharest, on September 15th. Sigo siendo talks about music and musicians, but it is not a musical film; it is rather a reflection on some personal stories which seem separated, but which are permanently looking for each other in a country that is also fighting to define its identity – Peru.

The documentary Los Ojos del Camino takes place in the fabulous Andes and follows the story of a shaman who wants to discover what disease reigns over the humanity. The film will be screened at Cervantes Institute, on September 13th.

Rodencia y el Diente de la Princesa is one of the children films included in the NINIPELI section and is scheduled for September 15th. To save their kingdom from evil rodents, two young mice go on a quest to a forbidden world to find a legendary magic crystal that has the power to restore order in their kingdom. Moreover, this section includes a workshop called Flying through Peru!, dedicated to children aged between 7 and 10, planned to happen on Saturday, September 15th, at Mercato Comunale, at 10 AM.

Ricardo Terrones, an artist from Chepén region of Peru and an explorer of the contemporary period which combines elements from the art of the ancient civilizations, will have an art exhibition during the festival (September 14-16), with a free entrance. The vernissage will take place on September 14th, at 17:00, at Gallery.
