26 September, 2022

– Available for pre-order between September 26 and October 5 –

The central theme of this year’s issue revolves around women in the local film industry, whom we celebrate by dedicating a comprehensive dossier – Stop-cadru la Feminin (Snapshot of the Feminine), which includes portraits, essays, editorials, reviews, and film lists, many of them accompanied by visual works by artists Elodie Chiper and Andrei Cojocaru.

The print issue will be available in OTOTO stores, Cărturești bookstores, and online on www.filmsinframe.com from October 10, at the price of 40 lei.

The magazine is available for pre-order between September 26 and October 5, here, which includes a special offer – a discount price of 35 lei and a copy of the first print issue, released in 2021, as a gift.

Comprising 136 pages full of articles, interviews and reviews, the second issue brings together several film critics and journalists – from the already known and beloved writers of the magazine – Călin Boto, Flavia Dima, Victor Morozov, Ionuț Mareș, Laura Musat, Steve Rickinson, Andreea Pătru, and Andrei Șendrea, to emerging voices such as Ramona Aristide, Teodora Leu, Oana Balaci, and Codrin Vasile, who are joined by older and more recent collaborators, among whom we mention Alex Mircioi, Cătălin Olaru, and Georgiana Vrăjitoru. Their columns tackle various topics such as An overview of the small Romanian film industry (with articles illustrated by Oana Barbonie and Beatrice Arzoiu), the war in Ukraine (seen through the eyes of filmmakers whose accounts are illustrated by Dan Perjovschi and Mike McQuade), celebrating 100 years since the birth of some legendary filmmakers, as well as festival correspondence.

Launched in October 2019, Films in Frame is an online bilingual film magazine that presents both the local and international industry through carefully crafted materials written by some of the best-known Romanian film critics and journalists. The first print issue of Films in Frame, released in 2021, comprises 25 articles, some of which are accompanied by visual works by Romanian artists, many of whom also worked on this year’s issue.

Films in Frame is powered by the Romanian Film Development Association (ADFR).

Since 2016, the Romanian Film Development Association aims to develop projects that support the independent film sector, to create and grow new communities of filmmakers and film enthusiasts, and to provide alternative forms of education and useful information about the Romanian and European film industry.
