Student Hub Masterclass # 7 – How is acting for screen different from acting for stage?

With a consistent career in both theater and film acting, Ela Ionescu and Valeriu Andriuţă are ready to share some of the secrets of their work with the masterclass participants. They will talk about how drama school helps you in film acting, what are the differences between acting for film and acting for stage, and what is the relationship of an actor with the film crew. The two will discuss their experiences, achievements, but also failures, attempts, and practices that lead to progress.

Arlechino Dies?, The Seagull, Othello are some of the theatre plays in which Ela Ionescu performs. As for film, you can see her in some of the most appreciated Romanian films of the last years: Alice T. (dir. Radu Muntean), Beside Me (dir. Tedy Necula), My Life Rehearsed in One Leg (dir. Bogdan Mustaţă), Dogs (dir. Bogdan Mirică), etc.

Valeriu Andriuţă starred in Love 1. Dog (dir. Florin Şerban), for which he was nominated for Best Actor at the Gopo Awards in 2019, Eastern Business (dir. Igor Cobileanski), A Decent Man (dir. Hadrian Marcu), Beautiful Corruption (dir. Eugen Damaschin), Beyond the Hills (dir. Cristian Mungiu) or A Gentle Creature (dir. Sergey Loznitsa).


Participation is free. Student Hub Masterclasses are mainly dedicated to students. For entries, submit this form. Should there be any seats left, the masterclass is also open to those who are already working in the film industry and for whom the class subject is of interest and useful in their practice, or to the film enthusiasts who want to discover the world behind the screen and improve their knowledge on cinema.
