TIFF.22 – Call for entries
The 22nd edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, organized by the Romanian Film Promotion and the Transilvania Film Festival Association, will take place between June 9-18, 2023, in Cluj-Napoca.
Romanian and international filmmakers can now submit their films for the festival’s programs. The selection is meant to reflect the authors’ originality and free expression, as well as unconventional uses of cinematic language or emerging cutting-edge currents.
TIFF’s competitive sections are:
- Official Competition – dedicated to filmmakers at their first or second feature film. The section brings to the public a selection of the latest productions in world cinema.
- What’s Up, Doc? – open to filmmakers at their first or second feature documentary. Films must have a minimum length of 60 minutes.
- Romanian Days – includes Romanian short and feature films; national premieres have priority. The program also hosts special screenings and retrospectives out of competition. Minority co-productions with Romania are shown out of competition.
Release (world premiere) dates for films selected in the competitive sections of the festival must be after May 1st, 2022. Foreign and Romanian entries in the Official Competition and What’s Up, Doc? must not have been screened in Romania.
The main awards in the Official Competition are the Transilvania Trophy for best film, Best Director, Special Jury Prize and Best Performance. The jury may also award two special mentions.
Entries are also accepted for the three non-competitive sections:
- Full Moon – showcases genre features (horror, thriller and fantasy).
- Supernova – showcases the most significant features and documentaries of the year, including titles awarded in major international festivals, works by renowned auteurs, national box-office leaders, and audience hits. Screenings will take place outdoors.
- No Limit – dedicated to features and documentaries that are provocative, controversial, experimental, transgressive, and innovative in both form and content.
Deadline: February 1, 2023. Submit your film here.
